Truncation checks
Measuring pixel widths…
How to use
Three steps, ten seconds
- 01
Enter your snippet
Type or paste your page title, meta description and URL. The previews start with a working example so you can see how everything behaves.
- 02
Compare desktop and mobile
Both previews render live in Google's fonts and layout, so what you see is what searchers see — including the breadcrumb URL and favicon row.
- 03
Fix the red flags
The pixel-width checks flag anything Google will truncate. Trim until every bar is green, then ship your tags with confidence.
FAQ
Common questions
What is a SERP preview?
SERP stands for Search Engine Results Page. A SERP preview simulates how your page's title, URL and meta description will appear in Google's results — on both desktop and mobile — so you can spot truncation and weak copy before the page goes live.
Why is my title being cut off in Google?
Google truncates by pixel width, not character count — roughly 580px on desktop. Wide letters like W and M eat space faster than narrow ones like i and l, so two 60-character titles can behave differently. This tool measures your actual text in Google's font and flags exactly which version gets clipped.
Does Google always use my meta description?
No. Google rewrites descriptions for a majority of queries, usually pulling a page snippet that better matches the search. You should still write a strong description: it is used often enough to matter, and it frequently powers social share previews too.
